Ranu Kumbolo

Ranu Kumbolo is the name of one of beautiful exotic lake in East Java. Ranu Kumbolo lake located at Mt.Semeru, if you like adventure, this lake is the best destianton.
If you want ot go to Ranu Kumbolo lake, you can go there via Tumpang, rent a jeep and the jeep will take you to the latest village near Semeru. After that you can walk for about 5 hours. This is amazing, your adventure will never forget.
Remember, this adventure is only if you have adventure soul.

Mt. Semeru

Mt. Semeru is the highest mountain in Java Indonesia, locate at East Java, near Mt. Bromo.
Must see when you go to Mt. Semeru are:

* RANU KUMBOLO AND PEAK OF Mt. SEMERU

Ranu pani and Ranu Regulo are two beautiful crater lakes on the upland of about 3 km beyond the southern rim of caldera. Ranu Pani/Ranu Regulo mostly passed by climbers who want to climb the Mt. Semeru. Ranu Pani about 1 Ha and Ranu Regulo about 0.75 Ha, are located nearby.

Ranu Kumbolo with about 14 Ha is located between Ranu Pani and Mt. Semeru. Walking a long the slopes of the lake Kumbolo, getting yours shoes stuck in the soft mud, smelling the fragance of pines and patches of miniature flowers, this is the idyllic solitude of the Kumbolo lake (Ranu Kumbolo).

For travelling to peak of Mt. Semeru from Ranu Pani, hikers have to take a rest at Kalimati or Arcopodo and then continue the travelling early in the morning (03.00 a.m).

On the peak of Mt. Semeru/Mahameru, hikers are adviced to avoid to visit the crater of Jonggring Saloko and southern part of the area due to the toxic gasses and lava path.

* RANU DARUNGAN

Ranu Darungan is another small crater thet located in southern flanks of Mt. Semeru with area about 0.5 Ha. The lake is surrounded by tropical rain forest with many speciesof orchids. Some activities can be done here i.e : camping, fishing, education and research.

The Shadow Puppets

In Indonesia (notably Java and Bali), shadow puppet plays are known as wayang kulit. Stories presented are usually mythical & morality tales. There is an educational moral to the plays which usually portray a battle between good and evil, with good always winning and evil running away (but eventually to return).

The puppets are made primarily of leather and manipulated with sticks. Shadow plays are very popular even today. They are performed during sacred temple ceremonies, at private functions, and for the public in the villages. A performance can last all night long, sometimes up to six hours or until dawn.

The man who played shadow puppet is Dalang.

Who are they ?
They are Pandawa family, in Mahabarata and Bharatayudha story, Pandawa family is good live symbol.
1. Yudhistira or Puntadewa is a very honest man, he can control his emotion, her wife named Drupadi
2. Werkudara/ Bima is a big man, in story Bima/ Werkudara can't sit, he find his meaning live in Dewaruci story.
3. Arjuna is a very handsome man, he has a lot of wife. Arjuna has a very great weapon named Pasopati.
4. Nakula and Sadewa, they are twin.
